Repealed, but not removed

WGAL’s Ben Simoneau highlights how the “unvouchered expense” payments will impact taxpayers for years via pension increases for lawmakers.

What Simoneau didn’t cover (not that I expected him to) was the impact on the judiciary. Pete DeCoursey of Capitolwire.com covered the budget hearing in which the Judiciary reported a $10.4 million DEFICIT.

According to a court spokesman, the now-rescinded pay raise cost county and district courts $5.2 milion in additional pay, pension and other costs. Of course, there is no requirement for judges to pay back the money. In fact, there are a couple of lawsuits filed by judges to reinstate it!
