Here’s what good health care looks like

Imagine scheduling a same-day telehealth appointment instead of waiting weeks for an in-person appointment. Or for needed surgery, you had access to local provider pricing, allowing you to plan better and save money. What if your local pharmacist could treat your child’s ear infection while you shop for groceries?
These scenarios aren’t pipe dreams. A more personalized health care system is achievable if we put regulators in the back seat and allow patients and providers to drive.
Take telehealth, for example. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, expanded use of telehealth should be a no-brainer. Telehealth saves patients the time and effort of driving across town for needed referrals and diagnoses. Moreover, telehealth increases access to rural communities lacking nearby medical facilities.
