School choice won in Pennsylvania this year—and 2024 is even more promising

School choice advocates in Pennsylvania received good news and even better news with the last legislative session of the year.

First, the good news: The Pennsylvania General Assembly added $150 million to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. This increase represents the largest increase for these programs since their inception. With this added funding, EITC and OSTC can now provide scholarships to more than 35,000 new students, helping them find a school that better meets their academic needs.

Comparatively, what Pennsylvania achieved in educational freedom is enormous from a national perspective.
