RGGI’s downfall gives Shapiro a unique opportunity to create an energy policy that benefits the economy and environment

The Commonwealth Court’s long-awaited decision against entry into the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative gives Gov. Josh Shapiro an incredible opportunity.

RGGI, a debacle Shapiro inherited from the previous administration, was set to commit Pennsylvania to an enormous energy tax without reducing carbon emissions. Thanks to the ruling, Shapiro can finally move on from this boondoggle and develop his own energy policies.

Initially an RGGI skeptic, Shapiro repeatedly promoted energy policies that struck a balance between protecting the environment and growing the economy.
