History shows Gov. Shapiro’s next move matters

The next few months are critical to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s legacy, and he knows it. The 2023–24 state budget, due June 30th, remains unfinished. Can Shapiro bring a divided government together? If he can’t, history shows he will be hard-pressed to accomplish anything significant in the future.

Yet, in “A Tear in Superman’s Cape,” the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette editorial board predicts all will end well for Shapiro: “He will likely emerge stronger than ever, after a salutary dose of humility and a few lessons learned.”

Not so fast.
