Since stepping down from CF in 2016 to launch Commonwealth Partners Chamber of Entrepreneurs, former CF president Matt Brouillette has continued to be a leading voice on the most pressing issues facing Pennsylvanians.
Now, he’s connecting with other leading voices in “Brews & Views”—a new podcast of the Commonwealth Partners where Matt sits down with some of the state's most dynamic elected officials, policymakers, and influencers.
Matt cuts through the political rhetoric to get to know the personalities behind the politicos—regardless of political label or ideology—often over coffee or beer.
In the first episode of the bi-weekly podcast, Matt has a conversation with former House Democratic Whip Mike Veon, who wound up in state prison but is back in Harrisburg lobbying on union officials’ behalf.
Despite stark ideological differences, Mike had some glowing praise for CF’s effectiveness in advancing free-market policy reform, stating:
“The Commonwealth Foundation … has become a real powerful policy force in Harrisburg—to my detriment and to the detriment of the things that I believe in. But I have to give credit where credit is due…. Frankly I’d like to replicate it on the progressive side of the aisle.”
Matt and Mike’s conversation demonstrates the truth that policy disagreements don’t preclude friendship and proves debate—even on the most heated issues—can, indeed, be civil.
