Commonwealth Foundation Launches Bi-Weekly Podcast

'Commonwealth Insight’ to Feature Entrepreneurs, Policy Makers, & Thought Leaders

August 10, 2016, HARRISBURG, Pa.—The Commonwealth Foundation today launched Commonwealth Insight, a bi-weekly podcast focused on issues critical to the Keystone State’s economic future.

Featuring diverse national and state thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and policy makers, Commonwealth Insight will meld the latest research and cultural trends with policies coming from Washington D.C. and Harrisburg—and show how they impact all Pennsylvanians.

“We are excited to bring together lawmakers, journalists, innovators, business leaders, and other key influencers to explore issues that affect Pennsylvanians’ daily lives and champion tested solutions to the challenges facing our state,” commented Douglas Baker, vice president of communications for the Commonwealth Foundation and host of Commonwealth Insight.

“I firmly believe Pennsylvania stands positioned to lead the nation in pivotal areas such as labor reform, pension reform, private-sector growth, and opportunity for all. I look forward to having many of today’s leading voices spend time in the Commonwealth Insight guest chair to discuss how Pennsylvania’s policy landscape is changing for the better.”

In the inaugural episode, Baker and Evan Baehr, president and co-founder of Able Lending, discuss the importance of small-business and private-sector growth to a robust economy. Baehr has worked at the White House, a hedge fund, and at Facebook. He is a graduate of Princeton, Yale, and Harvard Business School and is the co-author of Get Backed, a fund-raising guide for startups.

Also featured is Matthew Brouillette, president and CEO of the Commonwealth Partners Chamber of Entrepreneurs—a recently launched membership organization dedicated to improving the economic environment in Pennsylvania. Brouillette, formerly the president and CEO of the Commonwealth Foundation, reflects on the unique challenges Pennsylvania faces when it comes to fiscal responsibility and attractiveness for entrepreneurs.

Podcast host Douglas Baker is a Louisiana native and Chester County resident who has worked for four former governors, most recently as director of policy and communications for Governor Bobby Jindal.
