Can Students Wait One More Year for School Choice?

In 76 days, more than 106,000 kids will return to failing and violent schools, unless the legislature takes action this week. Parents like Joy and Lorenzo are desperate for another option. These are schools where more than 5,400 violent acts occurred in the 2008-09 school year alone, where students and staff fear being assaulted and where more than half of the kids can’t read or do math at grade level.

These kids are drowning and a lifeline delayed is a lifeline denied.

If legislators wait another year we relegate these children to another year of arson, thefts, and assaults.

Failure to act before June 30 will not only protect the status quo and allow special interests to reload, but it will condemn more children to another school year where the three R’s have become robberies, riots and rapes.

Please contact your representative today and tell we can not to wait another year before throwing a lifeline.
