Higher Taxes and Tuition Coming for PA College Students

The Tribune Review reports Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is continuing to threaten a tax on tuition, attempting to use a jedi mind trick to persuade universities to cough up more money. This despite the fact that state legislators are already pushing legislation to stop a tax on tuition, and many feel the courts would strike down the tax as unconstitutional.

In a related story, the Trib profiles how state-related universities may hike tuition mid-year (a spokeswoman for Penn State seemed to indicate that possibility is remote, whereas a Pitt spokesman suggests it may have to happen).
