Map of State and Local Sales Tax Rates
The Tax Foundation has a new map showing sales tax rates by state – including both the state rate and the average local rate.
With the local included, Pennsylvania ranks 30th, with an average rate of 6.22%. Only Pittsburgh (7%) and Philadelphia (8%) have local tax rates higher than the the state’s 6% rate. Note that these ranking do not include the recent increase to the Philadelphia sales tax.
