Please, No More Taxes! Video Contest

$4,000 in cash prizes for citizens to help raise awareness of PA’s painful tax burden

HARRISBURG, PA — The Commonwealth Foundation today announced its Please, No More Taxes! video contest for citizens to raise awareness of Pennsylvania’s punishing tax burden and the need for Gov. Rendell and the legislature to make it tolerable.

The first-prize video will earn $2,500, while second and third-prize winners will receive $1,000 and $500, respectively.

Entries will be judged based on how well they incorporate humor, creativity, persuasiveness, and accuracy.

Videos must be submitted by April 5th, and the winners will be announced on “Tax Day,” April 15th, 2009.

Pennsylvania has the 11th worst burden of state and local taxes in the country, a chief reason why the Commonwealth during Ed Rendell’s tenure as governor ranks a lowly 40th in the nation in job growth, 40th in income growth, and 42nd in population growth.
