PA Gets Mediocre Grade on Economic Freedom

Not suprisingly, given other state rankings, Pennsylvania gets a mediocre grade on the Fraser Institute’s Economic Freedom of North America report for 2008.

PA ranks tied for 26th out of 60 US states and Canadian provinces (Delaware leads the way). The index is based on several varables in three categories – size of government; taxes and takings; and labor freedom.

The study also finds, which is crucial to note, that states/provinces with greater economic freedom have higher per-capita income.
