Among other things, this law requires schools districts to hold public hearings regarding school construction project, and would require school districts to have voter referendum if construction costs exceeded estimates by certain level. It was estimated that between 20-50% of school projects would face this referendum requirement.
If you have never heard of this law it is probably because since 1973, a grand total of ZERO Act 34 referenda have taken place.
One group of citizens from Manheim Township School District have been petition for an Act 34 referendum for over three years. They will finally get a hearing before PDE tomorrow.
