Survey of Attitudes on Taxes

The Tax Foundation’s latest survey of attitudes towards taxes came out today. The results will shock you.

The number of people saying taxes are “too low” doubled since last year.

All right, only the New York Times would emphasize that fact, as a grand total of 2% say their taxes are “too low”, whereas 58% say they are “too high” (Goldilocks and 31% of respondents think they are “just right”).

Other (unsurprising) findings are that few are willing to pay more, whether for more government programs or to eliminated the deficit. The survey also finds (somewhat surprisingly) that the estate, gasoline, and property tax (in that order) are considered most “unfair”.
