The Minimum Wage: DeWeese as Marx

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review editorial board said it, not me…but they’re right!!

This may be the week that the Democrats attempt to artificially increase labor costs in PA. The irony, of course, is that raising the entry level wage by nearly 40% will destroy jobs for the very people they purport to want to help — low-income, low-skilled people. But who ever said feel-good politics had to make any economic sense?

And in case you don’t read the Trib editorial, you DEFINITELY need to read the quote from DeWeese that earned him the Karl Marx label from the Trib:

“It is time for the people of the commonwealth to share in the common wealth of their labors. Given that more than 80 percent of Pennsylvanians agree that someone who works hard deserves to earn a fair wage, a wage that does not leave one mired in poverty, it is time that we act upon the will of the people.”

And who said that Socialism/Communism/Fascism/Collectivism/Totalitarianism is only alive in our University classrooms? Obviously, such drivel is also thriving in “Moscow on the Susquehanna” (aka, your State Capitol).
