Taxpayer Funded Lobbying and the Growth of Government

Americans for Prosperity has a new analysis of taxpayer-funded lobbying of the federal government.  I don’t want to point out the obvious, but this taxpayer-funded lobbying is almost all for more taxpayer funding.

Pennsylvanians residents may or may not be surprised to learn that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania led all states in lobbying expenditures, and the City of Philadelphia was the top spending city in 2007 – but hey, at least we lead in something.   

Of course, just as problematic is local governments, universities, or independent agencies using taxpayer funds to lobby state government.
