Act 44 – no cap on Turnpike tolls
Toll Roads News has a story today on the Turnpike Commission’s claim that future Turnpike Tolls would be capped (with a 25% increase in 2009 and 3% annually thereafter). While I was aware that the 25%/3% was not a cap, but the minimum increase, what I did not realize is that, not only is there no “cap” on tolls, but the Turnpike commission was given authority to set tolls without oversight. Act 44, Section 8116, (b)
“Restrictions on toll revenue. –Tolls shall not be subject to supervision or regulation by any other State commission, board, bureau or agency.”
