Democrats Natural Gas Jobs Tax is Off the Charts

Just how high is the PA House Democrat’s proposed natural gas jobs tax? It would represent the highest tax in the nation.

The following chart shows the House Democrat’s proposal is off the charts. It’s substanially higher than West Virginia’s severance tax — the model endorsed by Governor Rendell.

Also take notice to the absence of tax break or exemption for newly drilled wells, unlike Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. Even Dan Onorato — the Democrat running for Governor — supports a lower tax rate or a tax exemption in the first years of production to keep Pennsylvania competitive.
