Guide to Harry Reid’s Health Care Bill
Yesterday, US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid put forth a new, 2,074 page health care reform bill. The Senate is expected to vote on it in the next few days. Click here to read the whole thing. That is too much for me, so I will instead read both the Men’s Devotional Bible (1400 pages) and the Webster’s New World Dictionary (600 pages) cover to cover in the next couple days.
Here is some analysis.
- ATR has the full list of taxes in Harry Reid’s bill as well as a word analysis (“shall” appears 3,607 times).
- Keith Hennessey provides his analysis of the new taxes, as well as the Joint Tax Committee’s. The Tax Foundation summarizes the JTC’s numbers.
- Michael Cannon highlights the hidden costs of the health care reform – i.e. the costs of mandates passed on to consumers.
- Heritage outlines the five main flaws with the Reid health care bill.
- BigGovernment.com has a podcast discussing the new version of health care reform.
- Philip Klein has details on the “doc fix” which will add $280 billion to the deficit.
The new bill is not reflected in our Guide to National Health Care Reform Proposals, but it reflects all the same ideas as previous Senate and House bills.
