PA General Assembly Costs $50,000 Per Day for One Hour Sessions

ABC 27 News has a story on the high cost of the General Assembly – $50,000 per day – to have sessions during the budget impasse.

This is very frustrating, especially on days like yesterday, when the Pennsylvania House convened at 11 am and recessed at 12:30 pm.  Of course, while that was not enough time to debate the budget, which hasn’t been brought to the floor yet, or a proposed income tax increase (which is impossible since it hasn’t been introduced in legislation yet), it is enough time for lawmakers to collect their $143 per diem.
