Charter schools produce graduates, cost less

Jay P. Greene’s blog points to a couple of recent studies on charter schools. The first one (link to full study here) shows that charter schools in Florida and Chicago have positive effects on both high school completion and college attendance.

The second one, a study from our sister think tank, the Buckeye Institute, finds that charter schools save taxpayers money in Ohio, as they cost far less than district-run schools. That is true in most states – including Pennsylvania – as charter schools typically get less funding than district schools.
