The Real Cost of Public Schools

Andrew Coulson has an article in the Washington Post and a more detailed version on the Cato-at-liberty blog contrasting public school spending ($24,000 per pupil) and private school spending (an $14,000 per pupil) in Washington DC. He notes that his private school estimate is likely high, and that DC private schools include some of the most elite and expensive in the nation (i.e. for children of Congressmen).

The Heartland Institute tackeles another of the education myths with an article looking at teacher pay, including references to a number of studies of teacher pay and benefits vs. other professions.
