Here is the email we received from the Elstonville Sportsman's Association's Steve Lowe cancelling their agreement to host our event.

Amy,

As mentioned last week the Board of Director’s had a meeting last evening to discuss the recent events that have unfolded in the media pertaining to the event scheduled for May 8th. It is the decision of the Board of Directors of Elstonville NOT to hold the event on May 8th. Elstonville is a sportsmen’s association and will not be affiliated in any way with political actions and/or statements to the media or the general public. We support our local community in many ways and will not be associated with events such as this.

The decision is final and will not be revisited by the Board of Director’s.

Steve Lowe

Their reasoning is a bit tortured -- "Elstonville is a sportsmen's association and will not be affiliated in any way with political actions and/or statements to the media or the general public." -- given that the club has held and is holding political fundraisers.

For example, here's Senator Mike Brubaker's campaign finance report filing for 2008:

Elstonville Sportsmen's Assn.
Manheim, PA  17545

Description:

Fundraiser - clay shoot

7/23/2008

$1,589.00

http://www.campaignfinance.state.pa.us/CFReport.aspx?CFReportID=62971&Section=III&StartRow=101&RowsPerPage=100

And if you visit Senator Brubaker's webpage, you'll see that he's having his having his Annual Clay Shoot at Elstonville exactly one week after our event -- the one they've cancelled because "Elstonville is a sportsmen's association and will not be affiliated in any way with political actions and/or statements to the media or the general public."???

We certainly don't want Elstonville to cancel on Senator Brubaker as they did us at the last minute, but the club clearly has adopted a double standard.

The good news is that we are already getting inquiries from other gun clubs that won't buckle under the pressure from those who would deny our First and Second Amendment rights.

Gov. Corbett Is Right: Real Corrections Reform, Right Now

May 23

We here at CF are proud to be part, along with Gov. George M. Leader, his family, and many others, of a transpartisan coalition favoring "real corrections reform, right now." That is why this morning, I attended the release of the recommendations of the Justice Reinvestment Initiative working group. At ...
