Time to Empower Pennsylvanians With Reform

TEXT SIZE A A A

Harrisburg, PA - CF President and CEO Matthew J. Brouillette released the following statement today in response to the latest round of Bonusgate indictments:

Today is but the latest chapter in a long train of abuses in state government. The reality is that such fraud and corruption in Harrisburg will continue until the people are empowered to make wholesale reform. Sadly, policymakers have not implemented any meaningful statutory changes to curb malfeasance since the last round of Bonusgate indictments. As we've seen, the toothless "rules" of the House and Senate have failed to uphold the level of public integrity expected by the citizens of Pennsylvania.

Editor's Note: The Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention Commission (which comprises the Commonwealth Foundation, Common Cause PA, League of Women Voters, and Democracy Rising PA) will hold a press conference at 10:15 a.m., on Monday, November 16th to make recommendations for improving Pennsylvania state government's openness, transparency and accountability.
