Prison Overcrowding Solutions

Char Campbell posted on 5/24/2011 1:05:00 PM
The general public has no understanding when it comes to incarceration. My husband is serving 85% of his time and has never had anything violent on his record. Banning CA court 24 years ago violated my husband saying you are not going to embarress this court and sentenced him to one year, first time imprisonment and made him do 85% of his time, which translates any time for he sereves will be 85% remember he has no violence history. Consequently, because I do not have money to change this, he is not eligible for early release on the many programs that have been proposed. He is currently in MINIMUM with no violence. and no points (they call it). People overlay a blanket on this. Inmates "bad" guys and women."saying that more crime will occur, murders etc. will happen if they are released, The general public not being ignorant of the facts buys it. A fear tatic is spread by the Corrections union and people believe what they say! All they are doing is making sure nothing cuts back their jobs and the fantastic salary they currently get, with the prisons getting X number of dollars per inmate. They are probably the strongest union in the United States so they get what they want!
