Be sure to take a second look at Gasland and you will see plenty of
misinformation. Nobody needs this and to become aware is to read not someone
else's opinion. The gain is for anyone who wants to reduce emissions by 50%
now! And the jobs created benefits all. This is everything anyone considered
to be "Green" should be embracing with open arms. No more wasted money on
Ethanol or Wind Mills. Turn Electric Plants from coal to natural and
innovate ways to make cars efficient on natural gas. This is true global
impact that benefits all.

Elizabeth...I would also challenge you to prove that the wells will not explode. Can you? Also...If your tap water was lighting up and blowing out fireballs when clicking a match near the water...would you drink that water yourself? Give it to your kids to drink? I bet your well isnt contaminated...because I bet there are no drillers by your house yet...& Yet is the key concept. What I have seen....and also noted in the video is that the rush to drill is also creating massive industrialization of once rural areas...exploding truck traffic to service just one new drilling pad...let alone hundreds...or even thousands of new wells...Millions upon millions of fresh water needed for the fracking process...& then the fluid we are told is disposed of...( Where Elizabeth? Can we have it delivered to your property for disposal if it is so safe...what is your address & we can look into fracking fluid retention ponds be built at your address & home. People..before you allow a lease to be signed....do your homework on this...If it sounds too good to be true....believe your Gut....It usually is...... Dont let $$$ sign cloud your judgement as you may seriously regret the decision afterwards...& the oil and gas companies will turn a deaf ear to you...

Elizabeth...you obviously have something personal to gain if this gas drilling boom continues unabated. The people in the gasland video have been ruined by this drilling process. The 99.5% of fracking fluid just being water? Common Elizabeth...there are hundreds of chemical additives that are kept secret and not divulged to the public due to Dick Cheneys exception from the clean air and clean water act. What are you personally gaining by lying about this harmful practice. I personally believe there is no proper oversight on this drilling...& regarding where I live...which is by the Allegheny nat'l forest...there was a 200,000 gallon spill of contaminated fracking fluid that ran into a nearby stream and across the woodlands....it made very little fanfare in the media....The powers that be...are ramming this through for profit...and somehow your benefitting. To the people who have had there well water ruined and air quality ruined...this madness needs to be fought tooth and nail. I can see no sense in deystroying a more precious commodity ( clean water ) for natural gas drilling....

The Marcellus Shale Gas Play is like looking a gift horse in the mouth! How lucky we are to have this God Given Resouse in our State. The Most Greenest resourse in our lifetime! There's enough Government in our lives and this is a true example of mis information condemnation, Taxing and killing instead of creating and ensuring much needed jobs .

This rush to drill puts thousands of PA residents at risk, both financially and health. My 4 acre plot can be leased at a maximum of about $24,000. My property is worth about $130,000. After my water well becomes polluted (an apparent likelihood, given the brief history of this industry in PA), and my property is devalued (virtually unsellable) my only sensible course of action will be to sue my neighbor(s) for the value of my property + additional expenses, and perhaps to join a massive class-action lawsuit against the state of PA. This rush to drill is madness. Just because a few people get rich overnight does not make it right. The long-term effects are mind-bogglingly negative.

I would double check with Rep Hinchey what facts are true since he dealt with the bill. Also did you agree with useing millions of gallons of water for this drilling wastful?
Thank you for your time and blogging with me to answering my questions.

Questions, most of your facts aren't true:
The 2005 Energy Act increased taxes on oil & gas (but created a slew of incentives for alternative energy): http://www.commonwealthfoundation.org/policyblog/detail/obama-more-green-for-green-energy
Moreover, it was a federal ban on shallow water drilling that forced BP to drill in deep water, making it more difficult to fix the leak.
The idea that oil and gas are exempt from the safe drinking act is another outright lie: http://www.energyindepth.org/2010/06/debunking-gasland/
The most ridiculous idea is that the notion that a natural gas tax in PA will be used to lower taxes elsewhere, which is only more ridiculous than the claim that public school funding will be cut because there are some people in the world who actually believe the latter.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 Provides incentives to companies drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico;(look how well that worked out)
Exempts oil and gas producers from certain requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act;
Now why would you exempt something from the clean water if the water you are using to frack isn't breaking that law? Don't you think that using that amout of water wastful in its self when there are million of people who don't have clean water. Aslo PA is the only state not taxing this business and if we do then maybe the people's taxes wont go up and we wont have to cut school and hospital fundings.

Gas Land- We are very well aware of the process you explain. And I would challenge you to provide evidence on the claim that these wells will explode. Even the recent accident in Clearfield county was not an explosion. And 99.5% of most fracking fluid is composed of water.
Secondly in the report we cite the impressive saftey record of natural gas drilling:In the past 15 years 99.75% of all wells have had zero groundwater impact.
Today's regulatory environment is very strict when it comes to drilling- see page five of the report.
Finally I encourage you to check out this article discussing the misleading and occaisionly false statements made in the film Gasland.

Did you know that they use 4 million gallons of water is used to drill with and they add over 500 chemicals to the water, that make it extremely toxic? This is called fracking fluid and when drill sites explode and they will, they send miles of gas spewing into the air, toxic water shooting into the air, and both of these will leak into streams and rivers causing people to light them on fire. I have seen people who use well water as their tap water light it on fire because this as leaked into their water supply. I believe that PA should NOT drill until there is a safer way to acquire the natural gas or we will see repercussions on the environment as we saw from coal mining.
June 21st on HBO Gas Land the movie on Natural Gas will be showing at 9pm I encourage everyone to watch it and learn the truth about Natural Gas
