Gov. Rendell's Gamesmanship

Ida M Temple posted on 8/28/2010 11:00:00 AM
The article says it for all of those in office. They are not for the people, only the lobbyists, and lying elected officials. Get Them Out. Vote to make this country better and respected.

Gamesmanship was the release of a 'poll' that the residents of PA supported a new tax to improve the roads.

He only gets away with this because of a “compliant press” and “spineless legislators” taking a piece of the action. There is an election on November 2.

The $50,000 figure is the average across all state workers - about half make more, and half make less.

Obviously, there are low-wage jobs, and very high paying one in state government.

But it would seem a bit odd if Rendell threated to lay off 24,000 government employees, all on the lower end of the pay scale. In fact Rendell's own words were state workers with "good-paying jobs" - albeit just to make his bluff more meaningful.

While I agree with the premise of your article and support nearly everything that you do, I do take offense to the average state worker salary.

I am in a management role at a state office and I know that out of the 10 people in my office only 2 make more than $50k. Please do not lump all of us state workers in with the political employees who simply take home a sizable paycheck for no work.

We here at CF are proud to be part, along with Gov. George M. Leader, his family, and many others, of a transpartisan coalition favoring "real corrections reform, right now." That is why this morning, I attended the release of the recommendations of the Justice Reinvestment Initiative working group. At ...
