Can Tom Corbett Keep His "No Tax" Pledge?

Typical Corbett Speak

Blame it on the unemployed for not wanting to take or look for a real job as long as they're collecting unemployment checks.

Never mind that collecting pays more that any job they could find or the fact that Corbett has pocketed money from persons of ill repute .

Corbette- The Gambler and where exactly is he going to resurrect these jobs from ?

Corbet is already tied to the Dunmore Don, Lou DeNaples through his campaign contributions of thousands.

What does this say about his priorities when and if he becomes our Governor ?

Our commie newspapers are already run by money. Try posting anything in the York paper about Jim Testerman , President of the PSEA terrorists and a teacher in the York School district. It will be posted for a few minutes and taken down. I tried to post this about a half hour ago and it wasn't put up. Vas is los mitt der luftwafer ?

Pelligi and Scarnati could be checked by a determined Governor who was not afraid to take on the special interests and really cut fraud and waste in Harrisburg. I hope, but don't believe, that will be Corbett. A committment to not raise taxes with no specifics sounds like a voice from the past.

This story isn't about Corbett, it is about Pileggi.

Once again, great comments and ideas from Matt and the good folks at CF. Unfortunately, I believe Mr. Corbett does not have the stomach to tackle the budget problems that he will experience. Like Pileggi, he is a typical "mainstream" Pennsylvania politician in that he will pander to get elected and then "go along to get along" once in office. Combine this with our caucus leadership-run legislature, and it will continue to be business-as-usual in Harrisburg. Sorry for my cynical comments, but after eight years of Governor Spendell (along with 18 consecutive losing seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates), words are meaningless to me. Which leaves only one thing left: SHOW ME!

Here is jim Testerman's response to fellow PSEA terrorists.
Employer contributions are projected to spike from $1,474,219,000 in the 2011-2012 school year to $4,191,703,000 in the 2012-2013.
Compounding the situation employer contributions to the State Employees Retirement System (SERS) are also expected to spike over the same period of time from $489,000,000 to $1,688,400,000. To fund these pension obligations under provisions of current law , it would require both the legislature and school boards to approve major tax increases.

Economic and political realities dictated that changes to the way PSERS and SERS are funded be made . Without them ,we face a very real risk of the legislature simply abandoning the plans if the only alternative is approving massive tax increases to fund them . That would create serious long term problems for the funds ,which in turn would hurt annuitants who depend on PSERS and SERS for their retirement income.

I am very concerned that worse options could be proposed which would divert active member contributions away from PSERS and threaten the very existence of our pensions .

As a retiree , I know this may not be what you want to hear but I feel an obligation to be direct, sincere, and transparent in my response to you.

My Salary in 2009- $272,071
2008- $197,719
A difference in one year of $74,352.

What, me worry ?

Sincerely,
James P. Testerman
PSEA President.

Right now the psea doesn't know if they want to waste a few million on Onorato's campaign. he's their fav legislator to pay off but it may be a waste of money.

can only hope he does not turn into a RINO! we have enough of them. I'll support him for the 1st time around, but, under NO circumstances will i support him a 2nd time if he raises taxes & proceeds with buss. as usual in Harrisburg. Sally is right-privatizing is the way to go along with the many other cost cutting measures mentioned. We wish Tom Corbett much success and our prayers are with the residents of Pa who are hanging on waiting to catch a break.

Corbett has ducked the prevailing wage issue as well as anything that would anger teachers or state workers as he is counting on their votes. But Matt is right on when he says that Corbett will have to stop this pandering to the unions and step up to cutting costs or he could be our first one term Gov in a long time. WE don't need a cross between Rendell and Ridge in the office.

Loved the article. Hope every legislator reads it. I know I will be passing it on to mine and a friend who is running in another legislative district. Don't agree to leasing the Turnpike unless it is an U.S. based company. Oherwise, agree totally with Sally.
