Alternative Energy Mandates

Katrina Anderson posted on 11/20/2009 10:01:00 AM
Braden - here's what Rep. Godshall said in a guest column for the Harrisburg Patriot News

"...a nuclear power plant operating near my home for more than 20years is over 95% reliable and serves more than 2 million homes. The total site is 600 acres. In order to replace this output, it would require 4,000 wind mills and then, only if and when the wind was blowing; or, in the atlernative, it would require 23,450 acres for solar, which, of course, depends on the sun shining."

I think the absurdity of man-made global warming is, thankfully, becoming more and more apparent, and CO2 rationing schemes are just wealth transfer vehicles.
Regarding new energy technologies, they should evolve naturally as a consequence of the free market. If at some point so-called green energy really does become more efficient and cost effective than today's technology it will naturally take its place. The idea of the govt cramming it down our throats should be anathema to every American.

The earth is cooling not heating. Accuweather has the

The new mandate ignores the land use problem which is a killer. A wind mill installation generating 1000mw occupies a plot of land 75 miles square.

Budget Cuts Do Not Equal Tuition Hikes

February 7

Last year we highlighted waste in public higher education, such as Indiana University of Pennsylvania's golf simulator with 52 different golf courses and Penn State's decision to construct new buildings so they can offer fewer early morning classes. Yet here we are again witnessing an avalanche of criticism ...
