Unions Nailed on Prevailing Wage

To hear the union boss of the Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council tell it from his cushy offsite confines, prevailing wage is all about helping local communities and exceeding standards.  But to hear it from actual members of those communities he claims they help?  Well, that’s a totally different story and one that Dennis Owens from ABC-27 Harrisburg exposed last night.

Since it’s clear that community leaders just aren’t seeing the benefits to doubling the cost of construction with absolutely no improvement in quality, maybe, just maybe it’s time for the General Assembly to pass common sense prevailing wage reforms that will help end this charade.  And if unions are really concerned about keeping hard-earned dollars in a community, then the easiest way to do that is by leaving them with their original owners.
