Sequester-Sized Savings

We’ve already busted the myth that federal money for the expansion of Medicaid is somehow “free.” As Nathan Benefield explains, government only distributes what if first taxes out of the pockets of citizens through taxes or borrowing (future taxes).

Not only is federal money anything but free, but by not expanding Medicaid, states are actually saving current and future taxpayer money. How much money?

According to a 2012 Congressional Budget Office projection, states refusing to expand Medicaid in 2014 will reduce the federal deficit by $84 billion. That’s just under the $85 billion in spending cuts due to sequestration.

Pennsylvania can’t afford to expand a failing Medicaid system. Tell Governor Corbett to stand strong against Medicaid expansion here.
