Pennsylvania Auditor Finds Millions Wasted in Medicaid

Auditor General Jack Wagner has a new finding that $3.3 million was spend on Medicaid benefits for those inelligible (HT Tony Phyrillas).  That $3.3 million figure (on 1,648 errors) came after analyzing only 2% of the total Medicaid caseload – meaning the total error level for the state was likely hundreds of millions of dollars.

What is the punishment for such wasteful spending?  Mostly likely a bailout from federal taxpayers awarding more money for state Medicaid spending.

Here is the Commonwealth Foundation’s recent report outlining reforms needed in the Medicaid system.
