The number of uninsured drivers - under mandates - is actually similar to the number of those lacking health insurance.

And this despite the reasons you would suspect higher rates of auto insurance - it is only for drivers, and does not mandate to buy a car, and auto insurance only covers catastrophic events, not routine maintenance.
Indeed, if health insurance were structure like auto insurance, it would be much less expensive, and there would be fewer uninsured.
