Thank you for your efforts to expose the corruption at the PTC. Mitchell Rubin is still out there running free yet being the target of a federal investigation. He has commonly been referred to as contractor number 5. I listened to the testimony in the Fumo trial and it was established that contractor number 5 was Rubin through his Process Serving Company B&R Services. They billed the senate monthly for the no-work contract and funneled the money to Rubin. B&R may be as guilty as Rubin in participating in the illegal activities associated with the 150K no-work contract.

Wait a min. PA has more slot machine profit than AC, and has recently been granted Table Games...and they want us to pay a toll on one of the most traveled and needed roads in the state???!!! Hell no. Why are we taking on this big gambling burden if it's not going to keep our taxes and fees down?? Ridiculous.

John,
There are multiple reason why I-80 tolling is a bad idea - and that the toll revenues will be diverted for other purposes (i.e. making it a TAX on I-80 drivers) is not the least of these.
However, corruption is a big part of the I-80 toll plan. Governor's past and present have tried to address Turnpike Corruption (Thornburgh pushed for eliminating the PTC in the 80s, and Rendell for leasing the Turnpike) to no avail.
Furthermore, it makes little sense do take a corrupt agency, DOUBLE THEIR SCOPE, and then talk about reforming their practices.

I think corruption in the Turnpike Commission and tolling I80 are separate issues. Corruption should be rooted out by judicial and executive action (let's get a governor who will appoint upright citizens). I oppose tolling I80 because I don't think user fees should be imposed on one activity to support something else.
