Thanks for an interesting article but I am not so sure about the proposed solution. The first problem revolves around giving non-elected officials the power to allocate tax dollars. The second involves trusting a University to act in the best interests of children rather than their own. Can you imagine some of the special interest schools faculty members would approve? Also, we have had any number of standards for establishing schools. For example, if we move towards a single standard do we want to lower the certification standards for teachers in the public schools, raise them in the charter schools, or do away with them altogether?
