Chart 3 should not be that surprising. The 1980 recession was the only one of the five plotted on the chart that was presided over by an actual conservative – Ronald Reagan.
So here’s what you have:
1973 – Nixon – semi conservative on defense matters and totally depraved when it came to the economy - wage and price controls. And we have him to thank for the EPA.
1980 – truly conservative in every sense of the word
1990 – Bush I – a conservative on defense matters but otherwise a RINO. A very likeable individual and one has to have the utmost respect for his patriotism in general and his valor in combat during WW II.
2001 – Bush II - a conservative on defense matters, had the good sense to take someone’s advice on tax cuts to pull us out of the 2001 recession but enamored with reach across the isle politics and bought in on the too big to fail crap (his own fault though; was hornswoggled by the Goldman Sachs Democrat he put in as Secretary of the Treasury).
2007 – A wet behind the ears socialist punk that is in over his head in every aspect of the job. Even if he wanted to temper his progressive agenda he has no clue whatsoever about the economy. He and his advisors have dug such a deep hole with their FDR approach (which has been proven to have been an abject failure the first time it was tried) and their blame Bush mantra that they have left themselves with no exit strategy.
