Post Event Summary
Maurice McTigue, Vice President at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, and a former member of the New Zealand Parliament, spoke at a Commonwealth Foundation breakfast in June. McTigue highlighted both lessons from New Zealand - including how the country eliminated all agriculture subsidies and all "economic development" subsidies (i.e. corporate welfare), and the economy flourished - and from other states and across the globe.
McTigue's presentation can be downloaded here or found below. PA Independent has a story from the breakfast, as well as podcast with Mr. McTigue.
McTigue also co-authored a recent policy paper outlining seven ideas for state policymakers dealing with fiscal crises.
