Policies & Principles Luncheon
Reviving Reform:
Is it Time for a Constitutional Convention?
featuring
Sen. Jeff Piccola
PA Senate State Government Committee Chair (R, Dauphin)
Rep. Curt Schroder
PA House of Representatives (R, Chester)
Following the 2005 legislative pay raise and the wave of elections resulting in the turnover of one-quarter of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, there was widespread call for reforming Pennsylvania government. Yet in the last three years, very little has been done in statute or in the Constitution. With the first round of indictments announced in the “Bonusgate” scandal, will the renewed call for reform be heard?
Sen. Jeff Piccola will discuss why has he asked for a special session on government reform, and what issues the Senate State Government Committee will take up before the end of the current legislative session. Rep. Curt Schroder will discuss why he thinks a state Constitutional Convention is needed and describe his bill that would call such a convention.
DATE: Tuesday, August 19th
TIME: 12:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association Building
225 State St., Harrisburg
Legislators, legislative staff, policy specialists, business leaders, media, and interested citizens and organizations are cordially invited to attend.
